Offer description

Collarts are looking for casual VET teachers to teach our Interior Decoration and Screen & Media courses to Secondary Students under the VDSS structure.

Students enrolled in the Certificate III in Interior Decoration Retail Services and Certificate III in Screen and Media are working towards careers within the dynamic creative arts industry, and as such, we are seeking enthusiastic educators with diverse industry experience. This role is an exciting opportunity to significantly impact the education and development of aspiring young adults.

About us:

Collarts (and its predecessor, Ausmusic) began more than 30 years ago with just three programs, a handful of students, and a small team of passionate lecturers. Founded on music and audio – a proudly rock'n'roll start – we've grown into one of Australia's leading creative education providers.

Today, operating as Collarts, we teach more than 2,000 students from over 30 countries across four campuses and in 50 partner high schools. We offer 24 degree programs and 5 vocational certificates, and are ranked Australia #1 Creative Arts Course Provider according to the 2024 Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) national surveys. Our community includes ARIA Award winners, renowned actors and playwrights, leading film directors, DOLBY Atmos practitioners, and some of Australia's most respected educators and creative industry professionals.

In 2024, we launched our new strategic plan, Creativity on Purpose: a bold roadmap focused on reach, engagement, sustainability, and quality. Already, we've achieved major milestones:

* Launched Collarts Online, offering high-quality, interactive programs designed to fit flexibly around life and work.
* Partnered with the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA), accrediting their world-class courses and creating new opportunities for collaboration and creative pathways.
* Earned external endorsement as a high-quality, self-accrediting provider and continue to build momentum towards University College status.
* Introduced new postgraduate programs, including the Master of Creative Industries and Master of Design, empowering the next generation of creative leaders.

Looking ahead, we're expanding our reach into new markets, developing industry-led postgraduate education, and investing in world-class online and on-campus experiences. With a national reputation for excellence and innovation, Collarts continues to champion creativity with purpose: equipping students, graduates and staff to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Join us as we shape the future of creative education in Australia.

The role:

You'll be the first academic point of contact for students and guide them through their studies with expertise, empathy and enthusiasm. This role is about creating an environment where students can be inspired, connected, challenged and supported. It is suited to someone passionate about creative education, enjoys working flexibly and want to contribute to shaping an excellent online learning experience.

You'll primarily be based at our Cromwell and Wellington Street campuses in Collingwood and at a secondary school on the Mornington Peninsula, working on Wednesdays, with occasional work at other sites and some after-hours flexibility for events or project deadlines.

We are looking for teachers who have:

* At least two years' training and assessing experience within an RTO/TAFE/secondary school setting
* Minimum two years' experience in the Creative Arts Industry
* Demonstrated experience in delivering programs to young adults
* High level of computer literacy; sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MAC operating systems and database management skills,
* Experience in using industry specific audio and media engineering software (ie Adobe)
* Strong Knowledge of VET and VETDSS requirements
* Experience using Learning Management Systems i.e Canvas
* Hold a current (TAE40116 or TAE40122) Certificate IV in Training and Assessment as a minimum
* Hold a Working with Children check or equivalent
