Job Title: Distribution Centre Manager
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Distribution Centre Manager to lead our Townsville distribution centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing both on-site and off-site operations, managing a dynamic team, and driving safety, operational performance, and team development.
About the Role
The Distribution Centre Manager will be the face of the site, building strong relationships with stakeholders, leading a safety-first culture, and taking ownership of a fast-paced regional operation.
* Safety First: Lead safety as a core value across the site, including the yard and operations. Champion COR compliance, load restraint standards, and MHE safety.
* Operational Leadership: Achieve cost, KPI, and service metrics. Optimise service levels, productivity, and cost reductions.
* Team Management: Lead a small, agile team with a focus on coaching, development, and performance. Foster a positive, learning-oriented culture.
* Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Handle calls from sales and customers. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and 3PL transport providers.
* Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders including onsite manufacturing and sales to deliver best-possible operational and customer outcomes.
* Continuous Improvement: Drive robust continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, inventory accuracy, and warehouse efficiency.
* Compliance & Reporting: Manage reporting, capital projects, and infrastructure upgrades. Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A minimum of 5 years working in a Supply Chain, Warehouse and Distribution environment, running a distribution centre in a leadership role.
* Proven ability to manage both inbound and outbound logistics, reporting, compliance, and project management of improvement initiatives.
* Experience with WMS systems (SAP/ERP highly regarded), inventory control, and load planning.
* Knowledge of 5S lean management, Chain of Responsibility (COR) and load restraint regulations.
* Strong leadership and people management skills and experienced coaching and mentoring others to develop and get the best out of the team.
* Highly effective planning and organisation skills, with strong time management, and coordination skills, have a sense of urgency, results-focused, with an analytical mindset.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to make quick decisions and build stakeholder and customer relationships.
* Able to work autonomously as part of a team with a collaborative style, is positive, resilient, innovative, and challenges the status quo.
* Thrive in a fast-paced environment, safety-focused, and bring a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to everything you do.
* Must have a driver's licence and forklift licence to meet the requirements of the role.
