Position Title: Mechanic’s Helper
Location: Transportation Department / Mason Public Schools / In-Person
Reports to: Transportation Supervisor

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Valid CDL Type B.P.S. or able to obtain within 30 days – Paid training provided
- DOT Physical Exam
- Good driving record
- Knowledge of vehicle repair
- Knowledge of light building maintenance
Desired Qualifications:
- State certified in one or more areas of vehicle repair
- Advanced technical training in vehicle repair
- Experience in preventive maintenance
Major Duties and Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Assist the mechanic with repairs and maintenance of school vehicles
- Repair bus seats
- Maintaining a clean well organized garage
- Use school vehicle to pick up parts
- Assist with snow removal
- Drive a bus route or trip if needed
- Clean Transportation facility and provide light maintenance
- Assist bus drivers in minor repairs or adjustments to bus
Physical Requirements and Work Setting:
- This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
- The position requires lifting and movement of supplies during the course of the day.
- Work takes place both indoors and outdoors.
Work Year: 52 week position, Monday – Friday, 4 hours per day
Benefits: School retirement plan, paid time off, snow days
Wage: $21.38 per hour
