About the opportunity: Austal has secured a landmark Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA) with the Commonwealth of Australia, supporting the national vision for a sustainable and continuous naval shipbuilding industry. As the Commonwealth’s Strategic Shipbuilder in Western Australia, Austal leads this transformative initiative. The SSA will drive growth across our industry and workforce, delivering existing and new programs under this long-term partnership. The agreement enables the design and construction of vessels at our Henderson Shipyard, beginning with the delivery of Landing Craft Medium and Heavy for the Australian Army, establishing enduring shipbuilding capability within the Henderson Precinct and across Western Australia. To achieve this, we are building a highly skilled team and engaging with local industry and supply chains.
We are seeking experienced Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Naval Architects, Draftsperson, and Modellers to join our team.

We are seeking Naval Architects, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, along with Drafting & Modellers, ideally with proven experience in vessel design or related fields. If you’re ready to take your career to the next level and be part of something bigger, we want to hear from you.
Essential Criteria
- Australian Citizen
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical) or equivalent
Desirable
- 5 years’ experience in ship design and construction
Due to the Security Clearance required for this position, applicants must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and uphold a Baseline Security Clearance through the Australian Department of Defence.
