Primary objective
Responsible for the provision of high quality and timely cleaning services in accordance with infection control, Work Health
and Safety (WHS) and environmental cleaning standards as directed.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high quality environmental cleaning services to ensure efficient functioning of clinical and non-clinical areas,
according to Policy and Procedures.
2. Communicate effectively with patients and hospital staff and support a collaborative team environment.
3. Participate in Ward/Housekeeping team meetings, staff education and performance development programs.
4. Participate in Quality Improvement programs.
5. Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision.

2. Follow defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures relating to the
work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated relevant cleaning experience in a hospital, industrial, or institutional environment and physical ability to
undertake cleaning duties including the use of industrial cleaning equipment, safe handling of chemicals and transporting
waste to designated collection points.
1. Demonstrated understanding of hygiene, infection control and WHS principles as they apply in the hospital context.
2. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Commitment to teamwork within a diverse cultural and multi-disciplinary environment, including the ability to interact
with people from diverse cultures.
5. Demonstrated capacity to organise and prioritise workloads and to complete delegated activities with minimal
supervision.
6. Ability to participate in shift roster including weekends and public holidays which includes the mentoring of new staff.
Desirable
1. Certificate II in Cleaning Operations or equivalent.
