Our site in Newcastle hosts the Home Care Package program, Short Term Restorative Care, which provides individually planned and coordinated supports and services for older people to help them live independently, as they wish.
It is also home to our Social Activity Group, which aims to help older adults continue living at home and in the community. These groups offer a structured program of activities that also provide respite and support for carers.
About the role
Support for older adults involves assisting them to live independently, fully, and with dignity. Based in
* Hamilton North
* Newcastle
we are looking for casual Support Workers, with the possibility of becoming permanent, to assist our older adult clients in maintaining and developing their independence, enabling them to lead enriching and fulfilling lives.
We welcome applications from experienced Support Workers and those new to the field (with relevant qualifications). Training is available.
What you'll be doing
You will deliver high-quality, individualized support to older people in the community. This may include:
* Following and implementing individual service plans, healthcare, and positive behaviour support plans.
* Providing companionship, conversation, and emotional support.
* Supporting with personal care, shopping, laundry, cleaning, bill paying, home maintenance, or meal preparation.
* Assisting with transportation to appointments.
* Supporting participation in community events, recreational activities, and social outings.
Who we are looking for
If you are a Support Worker or aspire to become one, with a Cert IV in Disability or Allied Health, or Cert III in Individual Support or Aged Care, and want to positively impact older adults' lives, you might be the person we're seeking
You should be a strong communicator and relationship builder, with good literacy, numeracy, and digital skills, and experience in delivering person-centred support respecting individual goals and cultural diversity.
Ability to work independently and in a team, complete administrative tasks accurately, hold a current driver's license, and comply with Covid-19 vaccination requirements are essential.
