Role Overview
The Head of Development will lead the end-to-end development of utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar, wind, storage, and hybrid solutions). This role is responsible for driving project origination, securing land, managing permitting and regulatory approvals, and ensuring projects reach financial close. The ideal candidate will combine strategic vision with hands-on execution, building and managing a high-performing development team while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership
* Define and execute the development strategy for utility-scale renewable projects in target markets.
* Identify new market opportunities and partnerships to expand the project pipeline.
* Project Development
* Oversee all phases of project development: site identification, land acquisition, permitting, grid connection, and stakeholder engagement.
* Ensure compliance with environmental, planning, and regulatory requirements.
* Manage relationships with landowners, local authorities, and community stakeholders.
* Team Management
* Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary development team.
* Establish KPIs and performance metrics to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
* Financial & Commercial Oversight
* Support project financial modeling, risk assessment, and investment decisions.
* Negotiate key contracts including land leases, development agreements, and joint ventures.
* Stakeholder Engagement
* Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), legal, and finance teams.
* Represent the company in industry forums, regulatory consultations, and public hearings.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
* 10+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
* Proven track record of delivering utility-scale projects from concept to financial close.
* Strong understanding of permitting processes, grid interconnection, and regulatory frameworks.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
