Applications are sought from applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Administration Officer to further strengthen the Domestic and External Territories work within the Christmas Island community.
ACT Policing, through the Domestic and External Territories (DET) Team, is responsible for the delivery of community policing services to Jervis Bay, Norfolk Island, Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Administrative team members are required to deliver outcomes in accordance with AFP governance instrument framework. Administrative team members contribute to the provision of Policing services to Domestic and External Territories by delivering on the role description and responsibilities detailed below. Administrative team members must maintain the essential requirements listed below.
Role and Responsibilities Provide administrative support as directed by the Officer in Charge (OIC) of Christmas Islandto assist in meeting the requirements of the service level agreement between the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communication, and the Arts (DITRDCA) and the AFP for the provision of Policing services to Christmas Island.
Establish and maintain internal and external networks and working relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders, and government agencies.
Engage with the Christmas Island community to provide a liaison service between the AFP and local population with language and cultural matters.
Manage official records in accordance with AFP governance and the Archives Act 1983 (Cth)
Process financial documents in accordance with AFP governance and the Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
Manage the station fleet; maintain vehicle registration, schedule servicing and maintenance and ensure logbook reporting complies with AFP FBT policy.
Maintain station equipment and assets in accordance with AFP governance; assist with stock take and managing the asset registry.
Assist deploying members with relocation administration. Our Ideal Candidate• Has sound knowledge and understanding of the Christmas Island Community and Culture;
• Enjoys helping people and can quickly develop effective relationships with members of the public and the Christmas Island Policing team;
• Has good judgement, integrity and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive business matters;
• Has good communication skills and attention to detail;
• Is proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;
• Can work autonomously as well as in a team; and
• Is able to demonstrate and promote the AFP's core values
Essential Requirements You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application. A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one. Additional Information This role is located on Christmas Island the successful applicant must be willing to relocate to Christmas Island.
