What You'll Be Doing

The Deputy Head of Department (DHOD) plays a significant leadership role in the Occupational Therapy Department by assisting the Head of Department (HOD) in the day to day management of occupational therapy staff and services across the hospital. The DHOD maintains a clinical role.

Management duties include assistance with budget management, data collection and statistical reporting, staff recruitment, orientation and personnel management. The deputy contributes to programme reviews and service development, and updates occupational therapy policies and procedures. Responsibilities also include relieving of stream leaders within the department during periods of leave, liaison with designated hospital clinical units, and coordinating quality improvement activities in the department.

How To Apply

* Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and AHPRA registration.
* Substantial post graduate clinical experience in paediatric occupational therapy practice.
* Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including the ability to undertake professional supervision and promote professional competence of other Occupational Therapy staff.
* High level of communication and interpersonal skills to promote teamwork and proven experience to communicate effectively with people at all levels including senior management.
* Experience in staff recruitment and personnel management, and sound understanding of change management methodology.
* Demonstrated high level skills in the evaluation and implementation of evidence based practice and modification of service delivery.
* Demonstrated ability to lead high level quality/service improvement projects in line with EQuIP Standards.
