The Grange Hotel is a busy, family‐owned pub and bistro — a true local favourite known for great food, cold drinks, and genuine hospitality. We're looking for a reliable, hands‐on Duty Manager who leads by example, has strong attention to detail, and genuinely values great customer service — especially with our many long‐term regulars.
About the Role
As Duty Manager, you are the go‐to person every night you work, overseeing the smooth running of the bar, gaming and bistro. This is a key leadership role where you're trusted to keep the venue operating efficiently, maintain high standards, and deliver a positive experience for both customers and staff. Regular shifts include Friday - Tuesday night shifts with Wednesday & Thursday off.
What You'll Be Doing
* Leading by example with a professional, calm and proactive approach
* Overseeing bar, gaming and bistro operations with strong attention to detail
* Building genuine rapport with our locals and delivering consistent, friendly customer service
* Supporting and guiding staff across multiple areas of the venue
* Ensuring compliance with cash handling, licensing and stock control procedures
* Maintaining venue presentation and ensuring high service standards
* Being a trustworthy, reliable point of contact for both customers and team members
* Training, coaching and mentoring staff to improve confidence and consistency
* Handling customer issues with fairness, maturity and a guest‐focused mindset
* Keeping shifts organised, efficient and well‐managed from start to finish
What We're Looking For
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory or hospitality management role
* Someone trustworthy, dependable and hands‐on, with strong leadership skills
* Excellent customer service — especially with regular locals and community‐minded patrons
* Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a well‐run venue
* Confident managing multiple areas at once (bar, gaming, bistro)
* Strong communication, problem‐solving and conflict‐resolution skills
* A leader who motivates through actions and a positive attitude
* Flexible availability including nights, weekends and public holidays
* RSA, ARCG & RCG essential
