20094478**Job Description*** South Melbourne location* Growing Team* Career Development Opportunities**The Opportunity**Step into a high‐impact role where you’ll lead the design of complex road and civil infrastructure projects that shape how communities move and connect. As Principal Roads Designer, you’ll take ownership of road geometric design, earthworks and pads, parking and access areas, station access and a wide range of civil works—all delivered to the required Australian and road‐agency standards.Your expertise will help drive design excellence across major transport and infrastructure programs.**Key responsibilities:*** Lead road and civil design packages as the Roads Design Lead or 12D Civil Designer, driving high‐quality project outcomes.* Prepare functional 2D designs and 3D models for roads, access tracks, intersections, roundabouts, earthwork pads and related civil works.* Manage road design deliverables end‐to‐end, including 3D modelling setup, design development and outputs that meet required LOI and LOD requirements.* Complete key engineering checks—alignments, sight distance, swept paths, barriers and line marking—to ensure full compliance with relevant design guides.* Oversee and support road designers by providing quality reviews, mentoring and technical guidance to uplift capability and meet project targets.**Required Skills and Competencies*** Deep expertise in road and civil engineering design, including strong knowledge of relevant Australian design codes, complex geometries, signalised and unsignalised intersections, roundabouts and earthworks across greenfield and brownfield environments.* Proven capability in swept‐path analysis, sight‐line assessments, engineering calculations and leading the setup, development and refinement of digital road and civil design models.* Extensive experience in design quality management, technical reviews and model assurance, with strong proficiency in 12D Design (drainage experience highly regarded).
