About The Opportunity
In this pivotal role, you will be the cornerstone of our capital program's financial integrity. Working collaboratively with senior leaders and project managers across our technology, facilities, and enterprise portfolio teams, you will provide the essential financial advice, reporting, and governance that underpins our most significant strategic initiatives.
This isn't just about crunching numbers; it's about translating financial data into a compelling narrative that empowers decision-makers, ensures accountability, and drives our organisation forward. You will be a trusted partner, guiding projects from initial business case through to successful completion and capitalisation.
Your Impact and Responsibilities
* Guide & Influence: Provide expert financial advice and strategic planning for major infrastructure and capital projects, including the development of business cases and Net Present Value (NPV) analysis.
* Deliver Clarity: Develop and manage insightful monthly reporting for our capital programs, highlighting key variances and performance metrics for both internal leaders and external government stakeholders.
* Empower & Mentor: Train and support non-financial project owners, helping them understand cost reports, manage budgets effectively, and build their financial confidence.
* Enhance & Improve: Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen our financial processes, internal controls, and reporting frameworks.
* Ensure Integrity: Oversee the timely capitalisation of project costs and coordinate regular asset valuations to ensure full compliance with Accounting Standards.
What You Bring to the Team
We are looking for a natural collaborator with a keen eye for detail and a passion for problem-solving. You are:
* A Superb Communicator: You excel at explaining complex financial information in a clear, concise, and engaging way to both finance and non-finance professionals.
* A Strategic Thinker: You have a degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent career experience) and a proven ability to analyse information from various sources to create meaningful reports that drive decisions.
* Confident & Autonomous: You are comfortable working under broad direction, exercising significant judgement to resolve complex issues and model financial scenarios.
* Technically Astute: You possess a strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, particularly in asset capitalisation, alongside an understanding of portfolio and project management principles.
* Culturally Aware: You have an understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
* Experience in a government or capital-intensive environment would be highly regarded.

* This is a full-time, ongoing position based in Adelaide.
* Eligibility to work in Australia is required.
* The successful applicant will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check.
* While the role is primarily business hours, some flexibility for out-of-hours work and occasional travel may be required.
