The Role
The Joint Logistics Unit East (JLU-E) is seeking a capable and motivated APS 6 Logistics Officer to join the Logistics Services Branch (LSB) at Moorebank. This role supports the delivery of logistics services including warehousing, distribution, clothing, and retail store operations for JLU-E and the wider Defence community.
As an APS 6 Logistics Officer, you will apply specialist logistics knowledge to support operational outcomes. You will work collaboratively with Defence stakeholders, Industry Partners, and internal teams to coordinate logistics activities, support contract performance, and ensure compliance with Defence policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
The role requires the application of judgement and initiative in the interpretation of policy and guidance, and the ability to provide considered advice on logistics related matters. You will contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of logistics processes and procedures, ensuring they align with Defence capability and sustainment objectives.
You will manage and resolve moderately complex logistics issues, support operational planning activities, and contribute to projects that impact operational and sustainment outcomes. This may include monitoring service delivery, analysing performance data, identifying risks, and recommending practical solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
The APS 6 Logistics Officer will plan and prioritise work activities, manage competing deadlines, and coordinate resources to achieve agreed outcomes. You will contribute to team performance by mentoring and supervising both Australian Public Servants (APS) and Australian Defence force (ADF) staff, supporting capability development, and promoting a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Located within Joint Logistics Unit - East at Moorebank, the Logistic Services Branch offers the opportunity to work with a skilled and dedicated team compromising of Australian Defence force (ADF), Australian Public Servants (APS) and Industry Partner staff who provides an essential Warehousing and Logistic capability as a key stakeholder in the ADF logistic network.
Joint Logistics Unit - East is one of Defence's largest warehousing units managing approximately 11.5 million-items. Located in Moorebank, we are a fast paced, transformative logistics unit with a diverse workforce of military, public servants and industry partners.

Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate strong practical experience in logistics operations, with the ability to work effectively within a contracted service environment. You will understand logistics practices across a broad range of commodities, from small, fast-moving items to large or oversized equipment requiring coordinated handling and compliance with relevant security or safety requirements. You will be able to interpret and apply organisational policies, procedures and legislation to provide accurate advice, resolve issues and support the delivery of reliable logistics services.
Working under limited direction, you will independently manage your workload, adapt to changing priorities and contribute to the achievement of team and organisational objectives. You will contribute specialist logistics knowledge to support operational planning, stakeholder coordination and improvement initiatives. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, contractors and partner organisations to ensure effective service delivery, and you will be confident communicating across face-to-face and digital platforms.
