Wayside Chapel has provided unconditional love, care and support for people on and around the streets of Kings Cross since 1964.
Under the banner of Love Over Hate, Wayside's programs and services are designed to ensure that the most marginalised members of our community have access to essential health, welfare, social and recreational services.
Each year, thousands of people visit Wayside's two centres in Kings Cross and Bondi for assistance in gaining equitable access to essential health, welfare and related services.

**About this Position**
This is a newly created role based in Wayside Chapel's new warehouse facility based in Alexandria. This is an important, internally focussed role responsible for the management of our stores of visitor consumables, Op Shop donations and the warehouse space. In addition, you will provide vital and broad ranging logístical support to our various teams. This includes management of items and stock for our Visitor Services/Programs, Social Enterprises, Marketing and Fundraising and Community Engagement.
The focus is to ensure the efficient and effective management and operation of all aspects of maintaining stores of consumable items for visitors at all sites, and the overall management of the Wayside Warehouse, including the day-to-day responsibility for the warehouse environment and work health and safety of staff and on-site visitors.
**Key focus areas**
Warehouse Management
- Using inventory management software ensure all sites (warehouse, and all visitor centres) maintain appropriate levels of stocks of items as required by stakeholders
- Maintain a clean and tidy warehouse
- Ensure the visitor centre store-rooms are well set up with easily managed processes to record withdrawals of items
- Ensure all processes in the warehouse are undertaken safely
- Correctly and safely use and maintain the pallet stacker in the warehouse
- Provide regular and accurate reports as to inventory use and levels when required
Purchasing
- Develop policies and procedures for the acquisition (purchasing or requesting from donors) and distribution of items to the various locations
- Develop supplier contracts for regular purchased items and ensure Wayside purchasing principles are applied
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure budgets and forecasts are adhered to when purchasing supplies for various teams
- Use purchasing processing software to record supplier invoices and generally support Finance Team with creditor processing when required
Op-Shop Donations
- Oversee the usage of the warehouse for the receipt, sorting and distribution of Op Shop Donations
- Work collaboratively with Op Shop Managers and teams (including volunteers) to ensure donations are sorted promptly
- Items for use by visitors should be promptly recorded in the inventory management system ready for interim storage and subsequent distribution to visitor centre locations
- Liaise with rag bag contractors for regular collection of unwanted donations
Longer term storage of seasonal items
- Manage storage of seasonal items for visitors (warmer clothing, blankets, sleeping bags) to ensure items are fresh and ready for use
- Manage storage of Marketing and Community Engagement items that are used annually Ensure record keeping indicates where items are at all times
Reporting
- Provide reporting as requested on a regular and ad hoc basis
- Proactively review and analyse inventory data to ensure inventory levels are maintained at optimum levels
- Be responsive to stakeholder requests and requirements
**About you**
- Several years' experience in a role focussing on warehouse management, inventory management and purchasing procedures
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Capacity to manage a high volume of work and work within deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects
- Capacity to continually realign priorities to achieve maximum efficiency in use of time and limited resources
- Microsoft Office 365 proficiency
- Experience with Warehouse Management and Inventory Software
- Strong team player and a commitment to collaborative working practices;
- Strong understanding of confidentiality concepts and organisational structure, and the ability to maintain confidentiality across all functions of staff and volunteer management and record keeping
- Willingness to work within the ethos of Wayside's mission values and behaviours.
