The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is the professional body responsible for training, educating, and representing psychiatrists in Australia and New Zealand. Committed to excellence and equity in mental healthcare, the RANZCP supports its members and advocates for improved mental health outcomes across its communities. The College’s work focuses on enhancing psychiatric education, promoting access and equity through advocacy and collaboration, and fostering a connected, contemporary organisation that benefits both its members and the public. Governed by a Board of Directors, RANZCP operates with a dedicated team and numerous committees, maintaining strong relationships with governments and key stakeholders across both countries.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for managing the financial health of the RANZCP to enable the CEO and Executive Managers deliver effective and efficient services to members and trainees. The CFO will do this through developing and implementing financial strategies, policies, procedures, and financial control frameworks that ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the college. This role involves working closely with the CEO and the Board to establish and implement a corporate services strategy that ensures the contemporary budget management, monitoring, and reporting of the College’s financial performance and resources as well as implementing a long-term property management strategy that achieves sustainable financial outcomes and meets the needs of its members.
To excel in this role, you hold relevant financial qualifications such as CPA (or equivalent), along with tertiary qualifications in accounting and/or business administration, or similar. You bring extensive experience and knowledge of the for-purpose sector, including ACNC-regulated organisations, with a proven track record as the most senior finance professional in a similar organisation. Your background includes demonstrated success in governance and change management, backed by strong strategic and operational leadership. You have excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and provide collaborative executive advice across a wide range of stakeholders. Your proactive mindset, initiative, and problem-solving abilities help you navigate complex organisational challenges, manage competing priorities, and deliver solution-focused outcomes. You enjoy using your well-developed analytical and resource planning skills to support new business and education initiatives, as well as implementing your knowledge of contemporary accounting systems to drive efficiency and informed decision-making.
