About the role
A Solution Engineer / Designer role is the intersection of data engineering analytics platforms and project delivery providing thought leadership and innovation for data solutions.
The function is accountable for the overall end-to-end solution design from data extraction from source systems ingestion transformation and creation of reusable data assets ready for consumption.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop test and support future-ready data solutions for customers across industry verticals
* Develop test and support end-to-end batch and near real-time data flows / pipelines
* Demonstrate understanding in data architectures modern data platforms big data data lakes data warehousing ML / AI analytics cloud platforms data governance and information management and associated technologies
* Demonstrate in-depth understanding of data integration ingestion design data transformation techniques and consumption patterns
* Develop and demonstrate Proof of Concepts and Working Demos
* Lead or collaborate with other internal / external consultants in consulting workshops and delivery engagements
* Mentor junior consultants in the practice and delivery engagements
Qualifications
* Must have big data platform delivery experience
* Must have data project delivery experience in a big data and cloud data lake environment
* Willing to lead and own end-to-end solution working with client architects but also be able to support tech delivery teams to troubleshoot issues and provide technical leadership in a complex client environment
* 3 years experience in a large and complex financial services organisation preferrable banks
* 7 years experience within projects and / or delivery of business and technology solutions involving designing and engineering of complex data processes
* 3 years of experience in advanced data transformation
* 3 years of experience presenting solution design or architecture in large forums and able to justify / defend the solution / design decisions
* 3 years of experience in data quality analysis and remediation
* 3 years hands on experience using Unix / Linux servers
* Good Knowledge on Cloud Platforms and Big Data Analytics using Hadoop and Azure Python and Apache Spark (PySpark)
* Strong verbal communication skills to convey information and ideas in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain messages
* Strong written skills to be able to clearly articulate and present findings to senior stakeholders and produce deliverables
* Ability to manage own time to meet milestones and deliverables
* Strong collaborative work practices in an agile fast paced team environment.
* A strong work ethic and a desire to go the extra mile
* Ability to work in demanding and high pace environment
What's on offer
This contract is available for an initial 6 month term with an extension of 6 months.
Located in Sydney this role offers a hybrid working arrangement.
