Pipe Fitter – Thales
Pipe fabricators are required to provide manufacture and installation of pipework in relation to ship repair, this role is based in a workshop, aboard vessels and buildings with the use of ferrous and non-ferrous metals to support the Naval business.
About Your Role
Our Garden Island site focuses on naval ship repair for defence and civilian vessels, ranging from basic maintenance to major overhauls.
Responsibilities
* Jig up, mark off, bend and fabricate pipework.
* Operate workshop machinery such as hydraulic benders, threading machines, etc.
* Work across a variety of environments on naval vessels.
* Assist with developing the skills of apprentices.
* Work in a team environment encouraging new ideas and improvements.
How About You?
* Cert III Plumbing – essential.
* Experience in MIG, TIG and stick welding (Cert III Welding / Fabrication advantageous).
* Forklift, dogman, working at heights and confined spaces tickets (advantageous).
* Safety conscious with sound problem‑solving skills.
* Experience in ship repair or heavy industry highly regarded.

As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance. Prior to offer you will complete a pre‑employment police and medical check.
