About the opportunity

This is a fulltime temp/causal role to permanent long-term employment for the right candidate.

This is a hands‐on Mechanical Fitter role covering a broad range of fixed plant equipment across two manufacturing sites. You'll oversee the day‐to‐day mechanical maintenance and performance of production plants and equipment reporting to the Operation Managers.

Working with another fitter, you'll help shape a proactive maintenance culture. The role can potentially progress toward a supervisory / leading hand position within 12 - 18 months assuming growth levels are maintained. In this role, you will:

• Conduct preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on 4 main production lines – encompassing high speed bagging machines, batching plants, silos with filter systems, augers, conveyors belts, motors, gearboxes, pneumatic systems, cylinders & air compressors
• Light fabrication and welding (desired but not essential)
• Assist with continuous improvement and contribute to the development and optimisation of preventative maintenance plans; identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and plant performance
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently to minimise downtime
• Conduct fault finding on PLC‐controlled systems and automated plants and equipment
• Maintain and service production machines, pneumatic systems, conveyors, and batch plant machinery
• Monitor and maintain mechanical spare parts and inventory levels
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and performance
• Maintain a clean and organised workshop and work environment
• Work autonomously with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and operational targets

About you

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in manufacturing environments, preventative and breakdown maintenance, fault finding, and servicing industrial fixed plant machinery and equipment. This role requires strong technical knowledge of machinery, PLC systems, pneumatics, conveyors, auger screw feeds, batch plants, silos, filter systems, and operations, along with the ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast‐paced environment.

• Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter or equivalent certification
• Experience in manufacturing and industrial maintenance environments
• Knowledge of preventative and breakdown maintenance
• Experience with PLC systems, fault finding, and automated machinery
• Understanding of machinery, pneumatic systems, conveyors, augers and batching plants
• Experience managing mechanical spares and inventory
• Problem‐solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Communication and organisational skills
