The Role
We are currently seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to join our Hobart office.
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role, develop fire safety strategies and performance solutions, and help shape the growth of our Tasmanian operations. You will be working alongside a highly capable national team, while enjoying the unique lifestyle benefits of Tasmania.
Responsibilities
- Fire Safety and Bushfire Solutions
- Conducting quality assurance reviews of technical work and documentation
- Preparation of fee proposals
- Assessment & evaluation of fire safety solutions and innovations to ensure compliance with relevant building codes, and standards
- Fire engineering analysis, calculations and modelling
- Review and assist with pricing structures to ensure competitiveness and relevance
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, fire and smoke modelling and evacuation modelling to assess fire behaviour, occupant movement and develop effective safety strategies
- Liaise with design team members and contractors, attending and participating in design meetings/authority meetings/site inspections and client functions
- Provide leadership and support to the team, including:
- Mentorship and training for Graduates
- Supporting the development of business initiatives and client relationships
- Assisting the State Manager with operational tasks and strategic initiatives
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience as a Fire Safety Engineer
- Current Chartered Professional Engineer status or state registration (fire safety) will be viewed favourably, but is not essential
- A Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering (Mechanical preferred; Civil/Structural disciplines will also be considered)
- Possession of a valid Australian driver's Licence and access to a readily available vehicle
- Extensive experience creating written reports with a strong attention to detail
- Creativity, Problem Solving and Strategic Thinking
- Proficient across Word/Excel/Outlook with a willingness to learn new software tools.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a customer focus
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team
