An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel - regulatory lawyer, to provide strategic advice on complex legislative, compliance and regulatory reform matters within a large, regulated organisation operating in a complex and evolving regulatory environment.
The role will partner closely with senior internal stakeholders and key regulatory bodies on high-profile and commercially sensitive matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic advice on legislative interpretation, regulatory obligations and compliance frameworks
* Advise the business on regulatory risk arising from new initiatives, commercial arrangements and operational change
* Engage directly with regulators in relation to investigations, consultations and enforcement matters
* Support submissions and responses to regulatory reviews and reform processes
* Monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory developments impacting the organisation
* Partner with risk and compliance teams to strengthen governance and regulatory controls
* Manage external counsel where required
Experience & Skills
* 8+ years' post-qualification experience with strong regulatory exposure, ideally gained within a leading law firm or complex in‐house environment
* Experience operating within a regulated infrastructure, technology, energy or transport environment highly regarded
* Demonstrated experience engaging with regulators and government bodies
* Strong understanding of statutory interpretation and regulatory compliance frameworks
* Commercially pragmatic with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives
* Confident stakeholder engagement skills and experience operating in a business‐facing role
