About the Opportunity

As part of the People Services team, the Payroll and People Services Officer is responsible for ensuring payroll is delivered accurately, on time, and in line with all legislative and policy requirements.

In addition to payroll, you will contribute to a broad range of people services activities, including maintaining HR systems, administering employment contracts, supporting recruitment, and assisting with remuneration and benefits processes.

This is a hands‐on and varied role that provides the opportunity to work across payroll, HR operations, and people initiatives, while supporting a diverse workforce across the organisation.

About You

You are a detail‐oriented and proactive professional who takes pride in delivering accurate, high‐quality work. You bring a strong understanding of payroll processes along with the flexibility to support broader HR activities.

You will bring:

* A relevant qualification in Accounting, HR, or Business Administration, with at least 5 years' experience in payroll, bookkeeping, or HR administration
* Demonstrated experience managing end‐to‐end payroll processing
* Strong knowledge of payroll‐related legislation, including tax, superannuation, and employment regulations
* Experience working with HRIS and payroll systems
* Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with clear written and verbal English
* The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small, multi‐skilled team

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

* Manage end‐to‐end fortnightly payroll, including new starters, terminations, and payroll variations
* Process off‐cycle and ad‐hoc payroll as required
* Respond to payroll enquiries in a timely and accurate manner
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation by staying current with tax, superannuation, and workplace regulations
* Maintain accurate and up‐to‐date employee data across HR and payroll systems
* Administer employment contracts in line with legislative requirements
* Contribute to remuneration and benefits processes and continuous improvement initiatives
* Support recruitment activities, including job briefing, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and onboarding
* Assist managers with position descriptions and maintain the PD library
* Provide support across WHS administration, including workers' compensation and return‐to‐work processes
* Deliver general HR administrative support, including managing shared inboxes and ad‐hoc requests
