The opportunity
Port Stephens Council is seeking a dedicated and capable Multi-Skilled Operator (MSO) to join our newly formed Coastal Management Team. Working within a small, dynamic crew, you'll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure and environmental outcomes across the Port Stephens region.
As an MSO, you'll be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a range of civil construction equipment to support the delivery of both construction and maintenance projects. You'll work closely with your supervisor, fellow team members, and subcontractors to ensure high-quality outcomes. When not operating plant equipment, you'll be actively involved in manual tasks associated with civil works, contributing to the hands-on success of our projects.
* This is a permanent opportunity – working full-time working 38 hours over 4 days – enjoy one day off each week
* Base Salary Range: $67,627 - $74,612 pa based on 38 hours / week + 12% superannuation + $2,464 retention allowance
* You will be working from Nelson Bay Depot

* Operate a range of plant and equipment safely and efficiently on-site — including loaders, rollers, excavators, or trucks — making sure all gear is checked, cleaned, and serviced daily.
* Perform manual labour tasks associated with civil maintenance and construction when plant operation is not required.

* Demonstrated experience operating machinery including back hoe, excavator, skid steer and roller
* HR or HC license with experience in various configurations
* Appropriate literacy and numeracy skills to allow comprehension of worksite documentation such as work method statements and quantity calculations.
* Demonstrated sound communications skills that create positive relationships with the community and stakeholders
