Overview
We are seeking a permanent full-time Payroll Compliance and Quality Assurance Manager to join Bendigo Bank. Reporting into the Senior Manager, Payroll Governance, you'll lead a small team to contribute to the Bank's objective to demonstrate compliance across pay-related systems and processes with Commonwealth, State and Territory workplace laws, including legislation and industrial instruments.
You'll contribute to ensuring our most valuable asset – our people – are paid correctly and that our payroll processes are robust, compliant, and efficient. You and your team will interpret various employment agreements, navigate the complexities of a large-scale payroll system, and drive a culture of continuous improvement and quality. You'll establish and maintain a robust payroll compliance and governance framework, lead assurance activities, and partner with senior stakeholders to identify, mitigate and prevent pay-related risks.
Responsibilities
* Lead payroll governance to ensure employees are paid correctly across all industrial agreements and awards.
* Interpret various employment agreements (e.g., Enterprise Agreements, Modern Awards) and navigate complexities of a large-scale payroll system.
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement and quality within the payroll function.
* Establish and maintain a robust payroll compliance and governance framework.
* Lead assurance activities and partner with senior stakeholders to identify, mitigate and prevent pay-related risks.
* Collaborate with senior stakeholders and HR systems to ensure alignment of policies and practices with organizational objectives.
* Support the team in dealing with payroll data analytics, including interpretation and presentation of findings.
What you'll bring to the role (Qualifications)
* Significant previous experience in a senior payroll or project position as a people leader with direct reports or resources managed.
* Demonstrated experience with complex, large-scale payrolls.
* Expertise in payroll compliance, quality assurance, and risk mitigation.
* Technical expertise in payroll data analytics with the ability to interpret and present findings.
* Proven ability to interpret and apply various employment agreements (e.g., Enterprise Agreements, Modern Awards).
* Strong understanding of the interaction between HR systems, policies, and practice in a corporate and customer service environment.
* Experience developing and implementing governance frameworks and processes to enable industrial compliance.
* Hands-on experience with SAP payroll systems, SuccessFactors, and Time and Attendance platforms is essential.
* Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively to find solutions.
* Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills.
