Operations Support Officer

Do you excel in supporting the delivery of high‐quality operational outcomes across a variety of technical platforms and tools? We are seeking an Operations Support Officer to support and undertake complex activities that meet customer and organisational needs, while contributing to the ongoing improvement of policies, systems and procedures. Your work will help drive greater consistency, efficiency and overall quality across the organisation.

What the opportunity is:

* Employment with Museums of History NSW.
* Clerk Grade 3/4. Remuneration package includes salary ($84,659 - $92,701), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
* Full‐time employment on an ongoing basis.
* The role will work across Greater Sydney.

What we do

Museums of History NSW brings together a portfolio of iconic museums, rich collections and heritage sites, the nation's oldest archive collection, vital record‐keeping services and expert staff.

We bring history to life by sharing the stories of our places and collections. Through the State Archives Collection, we manage NSW's official documentary heritage, supporting government transparency and the public's right to access information.

These two roles do not just sit side by side – they inform and enrich each other. By preserving and making accessible our places, collections and archives, we create opportunities for people to explore the past and better understand their own place in the world. By supporting lifelong learning and inviting people to come together, we promote civic literacy, empathy, wellbeing and belonging.

Museums of History NSW is a state cultural institution, established under the Museums of History NSW Act 2022. It is an agency of the NSW Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS).

What you'll do with us

Support and undertake complex operational activities to create high‐quality outcomes from a wide range of technical platforms and toolsets in accordance with customer and organisational requirements while supporting the optimisation of associated policies, systems and procedures to drive quality and efficiency for the organisation.

What you need to do to apply

To apply you will need to submit the following:

* A one to two page cover letter outlining how your skills and experiences meet the essential requirements for this role.
* A current resume listing two referees.
* Respond to the two targeted questions (no more than 300 words per answer). Your responses to the targeted questions should be submitted online during your application and not included in the covering letter.

What you need to tell us – Targeted questions

1. Describe an example of how you have contributed to the planning and improvement of work processes and quality of service outcomes for your team or organisation by identifying and implementing solutions to a significant issue. Please ensure you describe the issue and quantify the outcomes of your solution in terms of at least one of financial, quality, or efficiency outcomes.

2. Provide an overview of your experience scoping internal and/or external customer or stakeholder requirements and responding to those requirements with provision of service information and/or through documented responses such as quotations, scopes of works, solution/process designs, implementation plans.

Essential requirements of the role

* Proven experience identifying and solving operational issues and owning solution development or change through establishment of significant new or enhanced operational procedures.
* Proven track record providing support for large high‐speed Kodak (or similar) based digitisation bureau of 10+ devices such as technical or quality control support, and/or RS‐SQL O'Neil Software (or similar) including creating complex system queries to monitor operational workloads, and/or creating and supporting project/service based data capture/reporting tools through Microsoft SharePoint, Access or other database solutions through scripting or programming languages and analytics tools.
* Experience using business analysis, data capture, and reporting tools to identify and co‐coordinate on‐demand and workload and transaction volume trends through dashboard type solutions.
* Willingness to participate in rosters depending on operational requirements with the ability to participate in after‐hours call roster, including attending to call‐outs.
* Possess a current WWCC and have the ability to obtain a baseline security clearance within 6 months of request.

* To be eligible for an ongoing role in the NSW Public Sector you need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. For temporary and casual roles, you need to hold a valid visa giving you permission to work in Australia as required by the role.
* All successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check with NSW Police.
* A talent pool may be created for future ongoing and temporary roles and is valid for a period of up to 18 months.
