Our client, a well-established construction business based in Sydney, is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA-qualified professional with a strong background in the construction sector to step into a stable, long-term role with a reputable organisation.
Responsibilities
Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and detailed project reporting
Manage job costing, progress claims, subcontractor payments, retentions, and project cash flow
Provide budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across multiple construction projects
Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Oversee AP/AR, payroll processing, BAS/IAS submissions, and end-of-month processes
Liaise with project managers, site teams, and senior leadership to deliver financial insights
Support year-end audit processes and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
CPA qualified (mandatory)
Experience within the construction or infrastructure industry
Strong knowledge of project accounting, job costing, and construction financial workflows
Proficiency in accounting systems such as MYOB, Xero, or construction software (e.g., Jobpac, Cheops)
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
