About the role:
We are looking for a trustworthy, experienced, and proactive Safety Officer to oversee all aspects of Work Health and Safety (WHS) compliance and asbestos removal regulations. This is a critical role in ensuring our projects meet the highest safety standards and fostering a strong safety culture within the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, codes of practice, and ISO 45001 standards.
* Conduct site safety audits and risk assessments for asbestos removal projects.
* Develop and implement Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and asbestos management plans.
* Ensure proper use of PPE and decontamination protocols.
* Deliver induction programs for new employees and contractors.
* Provide ongoing safety training and toolbox talks.
* Investigate workplace incidents and near misses, and report findings to management.
* Maintain accurate WHS documentation, registers, and compliance checklists.
* Prepare reports for audits and regulatory inspections.
* Promote a safety-focused culture across all levels of the business.
You will be:
* Qualified with Certificate IV in WHS (or equivalent).
* Required Construction Induction Card and Driver's Licence.
* Experienced in construction or hazardous material environments.
* Knowledgeable about asbestos removal regulations and licensing requirements.
* Asbestos Removal Training/Ticket (Preferred but not essential).
