Doctors in Training Recruitment Campaign 2027 – Senior Registrar/Fellow – Trauma Services

Overview
The Trauma Service provides specialist tertiary trauma care to over 1,000 patients annually. The Senior Registrar will lead multidisciplinary teams and support the transition to consultant practice.
Responsibilities
* Attend trauma calls and lead daily ward rounds.
* Represent the medical team at trauma multidisciplinary meetings.
* Attend the fortnightly trauma clinic and supervise junior staff.
* Contribute to teaching, supervision of trainees, and protected teaching time.
* Engage in research and quality improvement activities using the Tasmanian Trauma Registry.
* Participate in staff specialist on‐call roster after orientation.
* Provide day‐to‐day management of inpatients and outpatients and after‐hours emergency cover at the hospital.
* Respond to referrals and consults within the Trauma Service.
Qualifications & Experience
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable).
* Eligibility for mandatory pre‐employment checks, including criminal and disciplinary checks.
* Experience in trauma or critical care settings is preferred but not mandatory.
Training & Education
* Accredited training opportunities: CICM (medicine time – 6 months), ACEM (including TS4 trainees – 6 months), ANZCA (PFY by individual application).
* Protected teaching time: five hours per week, with structured teaching and simulation fortnightly.
* Self‐directed learning supported by a logbook and online resources.
Employment Details
Level: Medical Practitioner Level 5‐11 (Registrar/Senior Registrar).
Salary: $138,978 – $194,675 per annum.
Employment type: Fixed‐term, full‐time (76 hours per fortnight plus 10 hours protected training).
Period: 1 February 2027 – 7 February 2028.
