Lead a pioneering program that’s shaping the future of health and medical education. We’re seeking a visionary and passionate Head of Health and Medical Sciences Pathways Program to spearhead an innovative initiative supporting students aspiring to careers in medicine, allied health, and biomedical sciences. This is a rare opportunity to break new ground and inspire the next generation of health professionals.

This role would suit a teacher with curriculum leadership and guidance/careers counselling experience wishing to make an impact as an emerging middle leader. You will foster partnerships with alumni, universities, and industry professionals to provide authentic, future-focused learning and career development opportunities for students in Years 9-12.

Responsibilities Include


* Design and lead a pioneering Health and Medical Sciences Pathways Program that sparks student interest from Year 9 and evolves into a comprehensive multi-year initiative.
* Align curriculum and enrichment activities with university prerequisites and emerging health industry trends to ensure students are future-ready.
* Embed health careers guidance into subject selection, academic counselling, and pastoral care, supporting personalised student pathways.
* Establish and coordinate alumni mentoring for current students in a range of allied health professions and curate real-world insights from health professionals.
* Engage with students, parents, and colleagues to support a positive learning community.
* Establish and nurture partnerships with leading universities and health sector employers to provide students with access to hospital visits, work experience, early-entry schemes, and industry exposure.
* Promote diverse tertiary entry pathways, including rural/regional entry schemes and alternate health degrees across Queensland and interstate.
* Evaluate and report on program success through destination tracking, participation data, and annual impact reports to the Executive Team.
* Develop a culture of high expectations for all students by modelling appropriate dress, language, behaviour and communication practices.
* Through the Communities of Practice (CoPs) teams, be active and engaged in sharing practice and raising the bar of student achievement.

Key Selection Criteria

* Proven leadership or coordination experience within a school or tertiary environment
* Strong understanding of tertiary pathways in allied health and medicine
* Ability to lead programs with clarity, innovation, and data-driven evaluation.
* Familiarity with UCAT, MMI, and health-related university admissions processes.
* Have a willingness to be part of a well-established and collaborative team.
* Have an active interest in, and commitment to the education of our students.
* Proven ability to conduct oneself in a way which develops personal respect, respect for the College and the teaching profession.

Essential Qualifications

* Credibility and track record in curriculum development in a Health or Science related field.
* Significant experience in teaching with a background in science, health, or careers education.
* Current Queensland College of Teacher Registration.
