The Role
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Superintendent to lead environmental management across our Phosphate Hill and Mount Isa operations. Reporting to the HSEC Manager, this role is critical in ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and licence conditions while driving continuous improvement in environmental performance. You will provide strategic leadership in environmental systems, rehabilitation and planning, regulatory reporting, and stakeholder engagement, working closely with site leaders, regulators, Traditional Owners, and the local community to deliver safe, compliant, and sustainable operations.
Key responsibilities Include:
* Lead environmental management across Phosphate Hill and Mount Isa, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, licence conditions, and company standards.
* Develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental management systems, improvement plans, and monitoring programs.
* Drive progressive rehabilitation and closure planning, including estimating, managing, and reducing rehabilitation liabilities.
* Manage regulatory reporting, approvals, audits, and environmental incident investigations, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to authorities.
* Build strong relationships with regulators, Traditional Owners, site leadership, contractors, and the local community.
* Lead, mentor, and develop environmental team members while managing consultants, contractors, and environmental budgets.
What you'll bring
* You must be committed to positively contributing to our safe, inclusive and high-performance culture
* A tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
* Extensive experience in environmental management within mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations.
* Strong working knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals, compliance, and regulatory reporting in Queensland.
* Proven ability to lead environmental management systems, rehabilitation and and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to influence site leaders, regulators, and community representatives.

The Site
Northern Australian Operations consists of an Ammonium Phosphate Mine and Processing Plant (Phosphate Hill) and Sulphuric Plant (Mt Isa) in North Queensland. The facilities comprise of ammonia, beneficiation, phosphoric acid, granulation and sulphuric acid plants plus infrastructure, utilities, power generation and housing to support the permanent workforce.
