TITLE: Assistant Teacher/SPED JOB GOALS
* To support the delivery of Lee County Schools District written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
* To ensure the reflection and communication of a positive image and attitude toward decisions and functions of the district as they relate to the public, staff, parents, and students.
* To assist the classroom teacher in meeting the needs of students.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Is highly qualified (AA degree or 48 college hours from an accredited college or passed the ACT Work Keys Test).
* Has knowledge of curriculum frameworks.
* Has knowledge of reading, writing/literacy development.
* Demonstrates proficiency in oral and written communication.
* Displays ability to establish and maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents and the public.
* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building principal or designee.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (under the supervision of a certified teacher)
* Participates in district and school professional development.
* Works directly with students, reinforcing skills previously taught by teacher.
* Participate in analysis and interpretation of data to monitor student progress.
* Comply with district policies and procedures.
* Attends multi-sensory phonics training.
* Provides group instruction as prescribed by certified teachers.
* Provides individualized instruction.
* Demonstrates various instructional strategies.
* Monitors work assigned by teacher.
* Checks and corrects student's work while in progress.
* Keeps students on task.
* Praises and reinforces achievement of students.
* Reports student progress to teacher.
* Maintains high standards, ethical behavior and confidentiality of student issues.
