Key Roles and Responsibilities

The role of Executive Officer is a pivotal position within the Division, requiring a high level of operational support to divisional leadership.

This includes coordinating divisional priorities through annual planning, performance reporting, process improvement, and record-keeping. The Executive Officer will also be responsible for preparing high-quality reports, submissions, and documentation for governance committees and external bodies, ensuring compliance with legislative and institutional requirements.

Additionally, the position will manage key communication platforms such as newsletters, meetings, SharePoint, and Teams to strengthen collaboration and cohesion across the Division.

As a central liaison between the Division, the Executive, and the University's colleges, the Executive Officer will support divisional governance committees and oversee governance and WHS reporting, ensuring alignment with University policies and procedures.


Specific Responsibilities

* Provide high-level executive support, strategic planning, and operational oversight within a complex organisation.
* Coordinate divisional priorities, annual planning, performance reporting, and process improvements; manage record-keeping.
* Prepare high-quality reports, submissions, and documentation for governance committees and external bodies; ensure compliance with legislative and institutional requirements.
* Manage communication platforms (newsletters, meetings, SharePoint, Teams) to strengthen collaboration across the Division.
* Act as a central liaison between the Division, the Executive, and the University's colleges; support divisional governance committees and oversee governance and WHS reporting.


Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require:

* Strategic and operational expertise: Proven experience in providing high-level executive support, strategic planning, and operational oversight within a complex organisation.
* Professionalism and initiative: Proactive, adaptable, collaborative approach with sound judgement and commitment to continuous improvement.
* Exceptional communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication; ability to produce high-quality reports, briefings, and correspondence aligned with the ANU style guide.
* Digital capability: Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft 365 suite; experience with BI dashboard reporting is an advantage.
* Stakeholder engagement: High-level interpersonal skills; experience liaising with senior executives.
* Governance and compliance knowledge: Familiarity with the Australian higher education sector and research-led university operations; knowledge of ANU systems and governance frameworks (highly regarded).
