**Position Title: Support WorkerClassification: SCHADS Level 3 Location: Mt Isa Social Mission (AOD) Status: Casual – Full Time*Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged to apply.
***Why this role matters**The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia's largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs.
Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
**The Role**As a Support Worker, you will provide effective support to participants, ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive environment in line with The Salvation Army (TSA) guidelines.
This role operates within a participant-led, recovery-oriented service model.
**About the Service** The Salvation Army's Mt Isa Recovery Service supports individuals experiencing problematic alcohol and other drug (AOD) use through comprehensive treatment and case management.
Alongside partnerships with external organisations offering diverse programs and activities, the service delivers a core program called Foundations.
**How You Will Make an Impact*** Provide a welcoming and responsive first point of contact for participants, addressing any urgent or immediate needs.
* Build effective and respectful relationships with participants to encourage self-determination, engagement, and positive change.
* Facilitate daily programs and activities, which may include social activities and information groups.
* Provide information and support to help assess and address participant needs, issues, and circumstances.
* In consultation with senior staff, take appropriate preventative action in response to potential high-risk situations.
* Support participants in implementing their case plans in line with the TSA model of care and practice.
* Actively encourage participants' involvement in their recovery and goal-setting.
* Assist participants in accessing additional support services as needed.
**What You Will Bring*** A relevant Certificate or Diploma qualification in Community Services, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), Mental Health, or a related field (or equivalent on-the-job training and experience).
* Previous experience in a similar role or related sector.
* A current and valid First Aid Certificate.
* A current Driver's Licence.
