Senior Project Specialist role working for WA's largest Port Authority

**Your new company**

Our client is one of the largest iron ore loading ports in the world and the largest in WA. A trading entity governed by the state of WA, they are responsible for future development of trade and commerce for the economic benefit of the state.

**Your new role**

We are seeking an experienced Project Specialist to join their Business and Trade divisions. Reporting into the Developments Manager you will be responsible for the management, assessment and oversight of proponent and lessee developments on port land.
- Assist with and oversee systems that ensure it complies with all applicable codes, as well as its legal and statutory requirements.
- Ensures port approvals are aligned with clients strategic Development Plan, Land Use Master Plans, Port Development Guidelines and applicable Australian Standards, laws, and regulations.
- Provides technical advice and recommendations as required
- Actively engage with proponents/lessees during the implementation of developments to ensure compliance
- Prepares Project Management Plans in accordance with Project Management Framework to ensure that project objectives and deliverables are achieved.
- Develops and manages scopes of work for the engagement of consultants and liaises with Commercial in the preparation of tender and contract documentation and consultant selection.
- Manages consultants through regular communications (both verbal and written) to ensure project scopes of work are delivered within the agreed scope, time, and budget; and in accordance with the Project Management Framework.
- Manages internal stakeholders and proponents/lessees through regular informal and formal communications, both verbal and written.
- Assists Developments Manager in communicating and briefing government departments and other stakeholders.
- Assists in the preparation of planning reviews and assessments other reports suitable for the Executive and Board regarding the planning and development of infrastructure within the ports.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
- High level of verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with, and influence, a diverse range of internal and external project stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the resource's industry in the northwest of WA and experience with statutory and regulatory approval process to support major projects.
- Well-developed research, analysis and problem-solving skills with a solution focused approach.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Produce project reports and documentation to a high standard.
