Job Description
As a Network Architect you will undertake high‐level engineering tasks—including solution design, system architecture design, high‐level designs and detailed designs—to support sales opportunities, network development, operations and network transformation. You will have end‐to‐end ownership of the overall network from a technical perspective, including architecture, innovation and security. In this role you will issue and manage technical solutions, designs and network changes from pre‐sales through to operations while collaborating with engineering, sales, pre‐sales, projects and operations to discover business requirements and customer needs.
Responsibilities
* End‐to‐end system network architecture and solution design for new opportunities, network expansion or enhancements.
* Develop network technology strategy documents and roadmaps that guide long‐term transformation.
* Assess and document customer requirements and influence RFx requirements during prospect development.
* Articulate the value proposition of new solutions/products/services/changes and ensure account teams understand how to sell the solution.
* Support complex sales proposals and act as a trusted advisor to the customer and internal stakeholders.
* Sign off on engineering designs, changes and implementations in the network.
* Serve as the single point of contact for the customer regarding engineering matters affecting the network.
* Manage technical relationships with the customer and represent Motorola at appropriate forums.
* Design and dimension solutions and system architecture to meet customer performance criteria.
* Support the account team with internal and external technical presentations and business development.
* Evaluate Motorola technologies and solutions to determine the best fit for customer needs, operational requirements and budget.
* Collaborate with Sales to develop overall sales strategies based on customer requirements and resources.
* Participate in contract negotiations and interface with Motorola product teams regarding solutions or new products.
* Request new products, systems and features to strengthen Motorola's solution offerings.
* Ensure understanding of commercial conditions and appropriate responses to technical conditions and compliance.
* Work closely with the Cyber Security team to follow best security practices for network design and services.
* Provide technical leadership in architectural migrations, capacity and performance.
* Support network upgrade strategy, explaining impacts, features, operational and architectural changes.
* Understand network service contractual requirements for the radio network and support compliance with KPIs.
* Act as the primary design authority for the ASTRO P25 Radio System and associated technologies, ensuring designs align with standards, regulatory requirements and Motorola's product strategy.
* Review and approve engineering designs, ensuring consistency, interoperability and scalability.
* Create detailed technical documentation and provide guidance or training to engineering teams and other stakeholders.
Basic Requirements – Essential
* Diploma or degree in engineering, telecommunications or an equivalent field.
* 10 years' experience with a wide range of radio and IP communications solutions, including architecture design, specification and implementation.
* Proven track record in system architecture and design oversight.
* Extensive experience with LMR systems, especially ASTRO P25 technology and public‐safety communication requirements.
* Experience influencing technical customer requirements throughout the sales process.
* Strong general knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data/application architectures, especially in the public‐safety market.
Beneficial – Preferred
* Eligibility for or membership with the Institution of Engineers Australia.
* Strong general knowledge of networking architecture, protocols and cybersecurity.
* Security clearance or ability to obtain one.
* Deep understanding of RF communication principles, IP networking and system interoperability.
* Experience in solution management, pre‐sales engineering, technical sales and/or customer relationship management.
* Knowledge or experience with command centre applications, mobile video, VMS, cloud architectures, RF coverage predictions, traffic or capacity modeling and related toolsets.
