Senior Consultant – Corporate Communications and Investor Relations (Contract)

As a Senior Consultant, Corporate Communications and Investor Relations, you will be a driving force in building and nurturing excellent client relationships, leading and delivering excellent services by applying your strategic thinking, industry expertise, and business acumen, and contributing to the talent development and new business development of the wider agency.
Position Overview
The Senior Consultant, Corporate Communications and Investor Relations, is a senior account leader within the Corporate and Investor Communications (CIC) team. This is a 12-month maternity leave cover contract, with genuine possibilities to transition to a permanent full-time role upon the completion of the contract, dependent on contribution to revenue generation, client growth, and acquisition.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Communications
Build and manage senior stakeholder relationships, with sound judgement to read the room and confidently provide strategic counsel to C‐suite executives
Lead complex, high‐stake issues and crisis communications programs, directing junior team members and ensuring disciplined execution under pressure
Advise on and deliver change and industrial relations communications for large Australian organisations, supporting leadership through periods of organisational transformation
Develop high‐impact media engagement strategies for C‐suite executives, elevating their industry profile and positioning them as credible thought leaders
Design and lead earned‐first, multi‐channel communications programs that support clients' growth ambitions and reputation objectives
Financial Communications
Develop strategic positioning, communications and engagement programs for financial services and ASX listed clients to engage with various stakeholders
Draft materials such as earnings releases, presentations, investor newsletters, ensuring communications are compliant with ASX listing rules
Develop investor relations strategies to support ASX‐listed clients to expand reach and influence with retail, High Net Worth (HNW) individuals, and institutional investors
Client Engagement
Responsible for the strategic direction and growth of corporate accounts and leading client engagements, serving as a day‐to‐day account lead
Manage and track budgets ensuring programs are delivered on budget and within client's expectations
General responsibility for nurturing, growing and sustaining client relationships
Implement communication programs and assessment of campaign success in accordance with client planning process
Establish strong collaboration and communication across account teams
New Business Development
Identify organic growth opportunities with current clients, and new business opportunities within target sectors
Proactively contribute to the development of new business and lead staff in identifying, researching and developing new business proposals
Lead preparation and delivery of organic growth or new business proposal content & in‐person pitch meetings
Support pursuit of cross‐account/practice & regional business opportunities
Provide leadership to junior consultants, ensuring high‐quality delivery while fostering strong team development and collaboration
Mentor and motivate staff with the goal of retention, growth and development
Oversee resource allocation across team including staffing/hiring/onboarding new talent
Help ensure team is cross‐trained and have a broad understanding of other businesses
Manage up & educate mid‐level managers on crisis issues, and client/team satisfaction
Model and hold the team accountable to demonstrating agency values
About You
Must-have Qualities
A minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably from a PR agency setting environment, along with 4‐5 years of people management experience
Sound knowledge and hands‐on experience in the Corporate and Financial Communications sector
Highly developed strategic and content development skills for corporate and investor audiences
A solid understanding of equity markets, financial and investment concepts, ASX listing rules, continuous disclosure requirements, and regulatory expectations
Experience advising C‐suite clients on communications strategies, particularly those targeting Gen‐Z/young investors, HNW and institutional investors
Excellent media and investor networks, and the ability to build, enhance and expand relations to support clients' growth and strategic business imperatives
Excellent news sense and a natural storyteller who can write compelling narratives in any settings, including issue/crisis, employee comms, and investor comms
Well‐developed presentation skills and confidence in autonomously leading the team in new business presentation development and pitching
Solid ability to leverage connections to drive new business
Strong consulting skills, business development skills, along with good track‐record of winning business pitches
