About the role
This is a temporary part-time position within our Occupational Therapy department working as a Senior/Level 4 Occupational Therapist within the Hand Therapy team at Westmead Hospital. The Hand Therapy team is multidisciplinary and consists of both Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists working cohesively within the service. This position will be responsible for a clinical caseload consisting of treating patients in both an inpatient and outpatient setting, as well as supervising Level 1/Level 2 Occupational Therapists working within the hand therapy team. The caseload will be primarily trauma with a small component of treatment of chronic conditions. You will also work closely with the surgical and MDT team at outpatient hand clinics based at Auburn Hospital.
We are seeking strong leadership in this space and there are various other roles and responsibilities you will have as a Senior clinician in our department. For example, will be responsible for supporting other outpatient Occupational Therapy services and staff in lymphoedema and scar management.

Where you'll be working
At Westmead Hospital, our Occupational Therapy Vision is to "empower through creative problem-solving, clinical excellence, and compassion."
You will be joining our thriving Occupational Therapy team at Westmead Hospital, which is where you'll experience a highly supportive department with a positive team culture. We are a department of approximately 50 clinicians with varied skillsets and knowledge working with acute and rehabilitation patients in inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
We prioritise professional, personal, and career development, valuing your growth as an integral part of our success. We are a cohesive team ensuring clinicians at all levels are involved in department development and decision-making processes to better the department and services we provide for our patients. For example, all Occupational Therapists are involved in department portfolios and quality projects. Supervision is a priority within our department, and we will establish the appropriate supervisory supports you require to reach your personal and professional goals. Professional development is strongly encouraged in the Occupational Therapy department both internally and externally to the organisation. Our well-established education portfolio offers a range of presentations/in-services throughout the year, tailored to meet the learning needs and interests of our clinicians. We recognise the importance of work-life balance and have various initiatives and arrangements in place to ensure your well-being is prioritised. This includes a well-established 'Culture Club' Portfolio who arrange various social gatherings and celebrations to bring the department together. As you will be part of the hand therapy team within Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) you will also work at Auburn Hospital to be part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) hand clinics.

What you'll be doing
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is enthusiastic about making a significant impact in our dynamic healthcare setting and contributing to our positive team culture. We seek someone who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and takes pride in delivering high quality services to both our patients and the organisation. We value a commitment to continuous professional and personal growth, supported by a dedicated team and management.
If you are seeking a diverse and stimulating work environment, our major trauma hospital offers exposure to a wide range of caseloads and clinical specialties, providing ample opportunities to expand your skills. Working at Westmead Hospital will allow you to significantly impact patient outcomes while advancing your professional development.
