Electrical Project Engineer Role
You will be part of a team responsible for designing, contracting, and delivering energy storage projects. Your key responsibilities include managing technical interfaces on project delivery, supporting the grid connection process, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide comprehensive engineering support to teams ensuring project assets are successfully realized.
* Manage technical interfaces between Eku, BESS supply partners, construction contractors, network service providers, and AEMO during project delivery.
* Represent Eku as a technical expert during project delivery with key stakeholders, including network service providers and AEMO.
* Act as a health and safety champion within the organization.
* Interface with owner's engineer and construction contractor design teams to ensure project design and construction meet technical specifications and applicable standards.
* Contribute to project design reviews and risk assessments.
* Perform regular site visits to ensure technical interfaces are being appropriately managed.
* Assist in quality control and completion processes through attending owner's engineer-led quality walkdowns.
* Support the handover of projects from delivery teams to asset management and provide ongoing technical support.
* Collaborate with the project development engineer on early-stage project planning, providing technical input on layout, geotechnical considerations, fire safety measures, cable schedules, equipment specifications, and interconnection arrangements.
Competencies Required:
Essential:
* Electrical Engineering or Electrician qualification with at least 5 years of experience working on utility-scale power generation assets > 5MW, with site-based experience.
* Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical design principles.
* Knowledge of SCADA systems.
* Familiarity with grid connection application processes, modelling requirements, AEMO Generator Registration, GPS testing processes, and MS Office suite - excel reporting.
* Ability to travel.
Desirable:
* Experience with Battery Energy Storage System projects.
* Experience with interconnection and commissioning processes of utility-scale power generation assets.
* Experience with electrical protection engineering design and operation.
* AutoCAD capability.
* Experience with PSSE, PSCAD, e-Tap, and other electrical power simulation tools.
* Experience preparing HV switching sheets.
