High-Accuracy Grader Operator Role
This position involves operating graders and other specialized equipment to deliver high-quality civil works across the district. You will work closely with the leading hand construction team to design levels and tolerances, support the city's construction program, and ensure roads and drainage assets are maintained to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate graders to a high level of accuracy for road construction, verge grading, drainage maintenance, and pavement works
* Interpret and work to construction plans, design levels, survey tolerances, and set-outs
* Undertake construction and maintenance of unsealed roads, shoulders, culverts, and other infrastructure
* Operate a range of plant including excavators, loaders, and skid steers
* Lead small teams on construction or maintenance tasks when required
* Perform daily plant inspections, basic maintenance, and cleaning, and report repairs to the plant mechanic
* Maintain a strong commitment to safe work practices, PPE use, and hazard reporting
Requirements:
* Certificate of Competency for Grader, Excavator, Skid Steer, and Loader
* Proven experience in road construction and high-accuracy machine operations
* Ability to understand civil plans, set-outs, and material specifications
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through complex operational challenges
* Sound communication skills and the confidence to work with staff, contractors, and the public
* Previous experience leading or mentoring small work teams (desirable)
* Manual HR driver's licence and a Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
* Basic Traffic Management certificate and good local area knowledge (desirable)
