We currently have a full-time opportunity for an experienced Electrician - Leading Hand to join our Health and Education team at The Royal Children's Hospital. Provide frontline leadership while supporting planned and reactive maintenance activities across complex, safety‐critical assets.
The purpose of this position is to oversee and supervise the completion of work which requires the application of electrical trade skills in a manner consistent with the high standards expected by our customers. The Electrical Service Leading Hand is further responsible for performing duties consistent with a team leader position.
Reporting to the Facility Services Manager, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services.
The role is Monday to Friday with core hours between 6:30 – 16:30 (8-hour shifts).
What You'll Bring Education & Qualifications
* Trade certification or licence in relevant field
* Occupational Health and Safety Construction Induction (White Card)
* Current applicable Electrical licence
* Work at Heights Qualification (preferable)
* Safe Work in Confined Space Qualification (preferable)
* Elevated Work Platform under 11m Qualification (preferable)
Experience
* Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience working as a qualified Electrician.
* Specific experience working in maintenance and installations in commercial environments.
* Experience in a health facility is highly regarded but not essential.
* Experience in Building Management Systems.
* Experience in management or supervisory roles.
* Experience with installations and maintenance in multi‐story buildings.
Skills & Knowledge
* Knowledge of Work Health Safety and risk management principles and practices.
* Knowledge of current industry standards relevant to Trades Services operations AS3000.
* Knowledge of installation and maintenance of main switchboards and distribution boards.
* Proficient in relevant aspects of the Electrical trade.
* Sound knowledge in Building Services.
* Ability to plan and produce preventative maintenance schedules.
* Proven skills in managing direct reports and sub‐contractors.

* Strong customer service focus – prioritising the needs of customers and acting with customers in mind.
