Diesel engine technician & diagnostics expert

This role is responsible for undertaking maintenance, testing, repair and scheduled service of heavy vehicle diesel engines, suspension, brakes, and electronic systems.

Responsibilities:

* Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and parts
* Dismantling of engine, transmissions, steering and other components, and inspecting the parts
* Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as needed
* Performing scheduled maintenance services, oil changes, lubrications, and engine tune-ups, to comply with pollution regulations
* Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired
* Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance
* Completing of all necessary paperwork – job cards, maintenance checklists, work orders, service reports

Skills and experience

* Minimum of 01 years of work experience
* White card
* Sound knowledge of modern diesel mechanical maintenance techniques
* Adhere to all safety regulations and ensure that repairs and maintenance are carried out in compliance with industry standards

POSITION TITLE: EARTHMOVING PLANT OPERATOR

Job Type: Full-time

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for operators and drivers of heavy machinery for various projects throughout Darwin and Surrounds.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

* Operate heavy machinery including excavators, graders, padfoot rollers, wheel loaders and skid steers.
* Perform daily pre-start inspections and basic maintenance (fluid levels, greasing, safety checks).
* Follow project specifications, site safety plans (SWMS, JSA) and quality standards.
* Coordinate with site supervisors, surveyors and other trades to achieve earthworks targets.
* Assist with site setup, trenching, batters, bulk excavation and final trim works.
* Maintain accurate plant operation and maintenance records.
* Adhere to all WHS and environmental procedures, reporting hazards or incidents immediately.

Skills & Experience Essential:

* Minimum 1 year demonstrated experience on civil construction projects.
* Current plant operator tickets/licences for machines listed above.
* White Card (Construction Induction) and current Driver's Licence (HR preferable).
* Sound understanding of civil earthworks methods and machinery capabilities.
* Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and delivering quality outcomes.
* Ability to work in remote/regional settings, including travel and overnight stays.
* Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening.
* Proven experience on Defence or remote-site projects.
* Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
* Current First Aid certificate.

POSITION TITLE: LABOURER (BUILDING/EARTHMOVING)

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $33 - $37 per hour

Position Summary:

This position will require you to operate power tools and assist with manual labouring duties on various job sites. You may also be required to assist on remote projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

* Loading and unloading trucks and moving gears and pallets around the construction sites.
* Moving dirt and unloading trucks using lifting and tipping devices.
* Delivering all supplies/goods to different jobs on site by truck whilst ensuring goods are stowed and securely covered to prevent loss and damage.
* Observing safety requirements when loading and unloading vehicles.
* Conducting regular quality checks of trucks to ensure they can be driven safely.
* Estimating weights to comply with load limitations and ensuring safe distribution of weight.
* Carry out general site clean-up, including removal of debris and maintenance of tidy work areas.
* Load, unload, and move construction materials, tools, and equipment as directed.
* Assist tradespeople and machine operators by performing manual tasks and supplying materials.
* Perform basic landscaping, digging, and trenching for infrastructure or building works.
* Operate power tools and hand tools under supervision for various labouring tasks.
* Set up and dismantle temporary fencing, signage, and barriers for safe work zones.
* Mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete, gravel, or soil as required.
* Support the erection of structures or installation of fixtures by holding or positioning components.
* Conduct basic maintenance duties such as sweeping, pressure cleaning, or minor repairs.
* Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE in accordance with site and company policies.
* Other duties as reasonably directed within their scope and experience.

Skills & Experience Essential:

* Licences – White Card (CIC), Driver's Licence, National Police Clearance
* Training – Working at Heights competency.
* Physically fit – adherence to best-practice manual handling and performing physical tasks for long periods.
* Ability to work outdoors in the Top end heat.
* Teamwork and communication – effectively collaborate and assist tradespersons on job sites.
* Basic tool handling and problem-solving – able to use hand and power tools and adapt to on-site requirements.
* Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening.
* Proven experience on Defence or remote-site projects.
* Current First Aid certificate.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
* Experience with Varicon, Sharepoint or similar job management software (preferred)
