Our client is an Australian owned company, operating in the manufacturing and distribution sector in South-East Melbourne. Starting ASAP, we are looking for an Assistant Accountant on a 6 month contract (with potential for permanency) to join the finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, your role will include but not be limited to:
* Assist with the setup and implementation of the accounting software, ensuring accuracy and smooth transition.
* Process and record day-to-day financial transactions in the accounting system.
* Assist with accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
* Support month-end reconciliations including bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
* Assist with payroll processing and related compliance requirements.
* Help with budgeting, forecasting, and providing financial information to management.
* Liaise with suppliers, customers, and external stakeholders regarding finance queries.
* Provide administrative and ad-hoc support to the finance function as required.
The successful candidate will have:
* 1+ year professional experience
* Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft package
* Good communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
* Good business acumen combined with problem solving and decision-making skills
* High level of attention to detail and ability to develop error checking methodologies
