**Position Overview**
The Geospatial Search Officer reports to the Senior Geospatial Specialist and works independently to provide administrative and technical support including undertaking geospatial searches, analysis and reporting. The position interacts with internal and external stakeholder and is responsible for responding to enquiries and servicing requests from clients with respect to analysis of geographic interests and native title matters.
**Duties**
- Undertake geospatial analysis and searches of geographic interests against native title matters and prepare associated reports consistent with standards, policy and procedural frameworks.
- Provide quality geospatial support and services to internal and external clients and stakeholders including responding sensitively to enquires and providing technical advice in relation to geospatial information.
- Use of GIS and related systems to research and resolve various issues with respect to geospatial analysis results using sound judgement.
- Ensure accurate records are maintained throughout the geospatial databases and adhere to Tribunal practices and procedures.
- Prioritise and plan work effectively, managing competing demands to ensure achievement of work outcomes and responses to stakeholders within suitable timeframes.
- Engage in project based activities as required.

**Selection Criteria**
- Knowledge of native title and the National Native Title Tribunal's functions or the ability to quickly acquire this.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and to make sure work is completed to the required standards.
- Ability to effectively prioritise and manage workloads.
- Possess and demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively and sensitively communicate across teams and with internal and external stakeholders.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to build, develop and sustain productive relationships that demonstrate empathy and an understanding of native title sensitivities.
- Some knowledge of GIS/desktop mapping software, native title, land and mining tenure.
- General understanding of data management considerations.
**Other Requirements**
This role does not require formal qualifications; however, a demonstrated interest in a spatial science discipline would be well regarded. (e.g. Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Sciences, Surveying, or Land Information Systems).
