Gathering Spot Café is a well-known cafe restaurant in Rochedale South in QLD. They are a popular establishment with a grocery joint in the area with a reputation for quality food. They are looking for an experienced Cook to join their team.
The Role
This is a full time role with an annual salary of AUD 74,000 to AUD 80,000 plus superannuation. The role is based in Rochedale South in QLD.
Responsibilities
Examine food to ensure quality and presentation
Cook a variety of dishes from the menu and on pans with guidance of head chef
Use different methods of cooking such as pan frying, deep frying, steaming, boiling and roasting
Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods
Portion food, place it on plates, and add gravies, sauces and garnishes
Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment and maintain them in positive working condition
Report to management if any maintenance is required
Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
Order raw materials from suppliers as per business needs
Review menu with head chef and contribute to some seasonal changes to the menu
Follow and maintain all OH&S; requirements for secure kitchen operations
Clean and maintain work area and kitchen equipment
Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
Assist with the ordering of supplies
Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
Assist in the development of the menu in consultation with the chef and the restaurant manager
Requirements
At least a Certificate 4 qualification in commercial cookery
Minimum 2 years of cookery experience in a commercial kitchen
At least 2 years’ experience cooking on the grill
At least 2 years’ experience preparing meals that cater to various dietary restrictions, such as gluten-free, vegan, or nut-free options
Ability to cook different proteins including seafood, beef, lamb and pork
Passion for excellent food and presentation
Understanding of, and commitment to, food safety
Experience in kitchen operations and in managing a team
Experience in training kitchen staff
