About the Role
We are seeking passionate and dynamic Haematology/Oncology Registered Nurses with strong acute experience to join our Epworth Geelong 5 West team on our 32 bed Medical/Oncology ward at Epworth Geelong.
A Chemotherapy nurse's primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment. This includes administering chemotherapy, monitoring for side effects, educating patients and their families, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
You will be an experienced oncology and/or haematology nurse registered nurse, passionate about patient care and achieving high-quality clinical outcomes. A strong communicator, you have a supportive and engaging style that enables you to easily build rapport with patients and their families.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Delivering high-quality nursing care and an exceptional patient experience within the Medical/Oncology Unit
* Utilising a reflective, critical thinking and evidence-based approach to the clinical care of patients
* Offering education and support to patients and their families
* Role modelling empathy to patients, families, and the medical team
* Ensuring patient flow is managed whilst providing high standards of patient care
Requirements
* Hold current nursing registration with AHPRA
* Minimum 4 years' experience in an acute care setting including Oncology experience
* Current Chemotherapy competency and EVIQ/ADAC certificate
* Contemporary knowledge of best practice in cancer nursing care
* Post Graduate qualifications in Oncology or working towards (desirable)
* Experience in administering chemotherapy medications safely and accurately following specific protocols and guidelines
* Experience assessing patients' physical and emotional well-being, monitoring for side effects, and providing support
* Demonstrate compassion, critical thinking, and a collaborative approach to patient care
