We are seeking a skilled professional to join our operations team in the role of Town Maintenance Officer.
* This position involves undertaking daily reserves, roads and drainage, reticulation systems and other works in the Kununurra town site and surrounds.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintenance and construction projects that enhance or modify parks, sporting facilities, public open spaces, reserves, cemeteries, streets and Shire ablutions;
* Roadside preparation and maintenance including tree planting, removing litter, trimming, whipper snipping, tree and branch removal, clean up after storms etc;
* Gardening duties including mowing, fertilising, planting, pruning, edging, reticulation maintenance and weed control;
* Operating fleet including truck/trailer, and plant equipment to carry out maintenance requirements;
* Operating plant and equipment and ensuring that all equipment is well maintained and faults are reported immediately to ensure best use and safe equipment;
* Maintaining plant and equipment log books and completing end of day checks so equipment is work-ready for the next day;
* Ensuring that tools, machinery, equipment and workshop is maintained to a high standard;
* Attending and participating in team meetings, tool box meetings, inductions and other required training;
* Following organisational specific procedures and processes at all times;
* Actively contributing to team planning and be committed to strong work productivity and high-quality outputs;
* Utilising initiative to solve routine problems and determine ways to improve efficiency and performance;
A Certificate III in Civil Construction/Horticulture, current Blue/White Construction Safety Card and unrestricted WA 'HR' Class Driver's Licence are essential for this role, as is demonstrated experience in the safe operation and user maintenance of equipment and experience and ability to work outdoors in East Kimberley conditions. You will also have good customer service skills, good time management skills and strong communication skills.
This role may offer permanent, fixed term, full-time and part-time appointments as vacancies arise, however an appointment is not guaranteed.
