Job Title
The position of Safety Officer entails ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation, industry standards, and client-specific requirements. This role involves creating and maintaining a safe working environment through proactive engagement and effective risk management.
Main Responsibilities
* To ensure personal safety and the safety of those around by adhering to safety protocols and reporting incidents or near misses.
* To embody a culture of safety in daily activities and promote a safe working environment within the team.
* To maintain accurate records of risk assessments, briefings, toolbox talks, and personal protective equipment issued to ensure compliance with company and client standards.
* To conduct regular site inspections and report findings to the project manager.
* To identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance health and safety performance.
* To communicate effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, and clients to ensure a safe working environment.
Key Qualifications
* A good understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant legislation.
* An NEBOSH qualification or equivalent.
* Demonstrable experience of managing previous projects as a safety officer.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to keep accurate records and reports.
