**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
Working within our finance team, the Tax Specialist is responsible for assisting the group in meeting its tax and compliance obligations relevant to the state, federal and country tax authorities.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing and owning the monthly and quarterly business tax obligations, ensuring that the relevant statements are lodged and paid;
- Working closely with the financial accounting team, ensuring that superannuation payments are timely and accurate and monthly payroll tax and loan account reconciliations are prepared;
- Assist with the Bureau of Statistics surveys when needed;
- Review annual ASIC registers, ensuring accuracy and managing updates accordingly;
- Assisting the Tax and Compliance Manager with the timely lodgments of income Tax Returns as well as various year-end procedures;
- Assisting with annual insurance review process;
- Conducting research involving both state and local taxation issues to understand the changing financial landscape and market, advising the finance team as necessary;
- Acting as a liaison with relevant tax authorities;
- Recommending strategies that align with the overall business goals;
- Maintain an archive of client data and records as needed for tax authority submissions, organizing and maintaining records of tax payments.
**ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**:
- 5 years' experience within private practice or similar organisations, CA/CPA qualified or pursuing qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and capacity to research with a high degree of problem solving skills
- A great degree of autonomy, requiring strong and friendly people skills are a must have!
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be a given, alongside exposure to a variety of tax structures.
