About the Role
Saint Ignatius College Geelong is seeking a compassionate and experienced Student Wellbeing Officer to join our Student Wellbeing Team. This role supports the wellbeing, safety and personal development of students and contributes to a positive, proactive wellbeing culture across the College.
Reporting to the Deputy Principal – Students via the Student Wellbeing Office Coordinator, this role provides counselling, case management and wellbeing support to students, while assisting with wellbeing programs, staff consultation and whole-school initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support
* Provide counselling and wellbeing support to students (self-, staff- or parent-referred).
* Case manage students at risk, maintain records and develop Safety Plans.
* Assist with crisis responses, school refusal cases and student transitions.
* Provide resources, referrals and information to students and families.
* Assist the Student Wellbeing Office Coordinator with small-group wellbeing programs and school-wide initiatives (e.g., RUOK? Day, Bullying No Way Day).
Program & Team Support
* Assist the Student Wellbeing Office Coordinator in the development, delivery and evaluation of wellbeing programs, including contributing to data collection and analysis.
* Contribute to a collaborative team culture by sharing knowledge, participating in professional learning, and supporting colleagues within the Wellbeing Team.
* Participate in team discussions and case consultations, contributing insights to support effective student wellbeing responses.
* Represent the Wellbeing Department in internal and external forums as required.
Staff Collaboration
* Work closely with Deputy Principals, Heads of House and teaching staff on student wellbeing matters.
* Provide wellbeing resources and guidance to staff.
* Contribute to professional learning, procedures and policy development.
* Participate in Critical Incident/Emergency Management teams.
Parent Engagement
* Provide support and information to parents regarding their child’s wellbeing.
* Facilitate referrals to external agencies where appropriate.
* Assist with parent information evenings and promote wellbeing services.
Requirements
* Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in social work, psychology, counseling or an equivalent field, and have relevant experience in the field of youth mental health and education
* Current Level 2 First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification.
* Strong communication, relationship-building and case management skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to safe work practices and confidentiality.
Contract Term:
Start date: 18 May 2026 - End Date: 27 January 2027
