About the role
As a Senior Estimator within UGL's Utilities Operations and Maintenance business unit, you will lead the bid team's estimating activities and build competitive estimates to support successful tendering performance, focusing on power distribution and transmission network projects and programs up to 330 kV. Projects will include overhead and underground lines, substations and civil works.
This position can be based in North Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne.
Key responsibilities
* Lead the estimating function for tenders, EOIs and operational budgets (where required)
* Manage and coordinate stakeholders and activities required to complete estimates (e.g., support from other estimators, subject matter experts, operational staff, and pricing documentation for management reviews and submissions)
* Participate in risk assessments and contribute to contingency proposals, margin analysis and pricing strategies
* Review contract terms, delivery models, and identify cost or execution risks
* Develop estimating and business analysis models, competitor analysis and benchmarking, and strategy documents
* Ensure estimates are transparent, accurate, and benchmarked
* Maintain accurate estimating database and ensure compliance with all record‐keeping requirements
* Support bid lead in pre‐tender and post‐tender pricing clarifications and submissions
* Liaise and coordinate with the Chief Estimator (Group)
* Attend all Gate reviews and Project Reviews as required
* Ensure the tender process, including estimate reviews, follows the UGL Way and conduct peer reviews on estimates when requested
About You
* Degree or Diploma in Engineering desirable but not essential
* 7+ years estimating experience as a Civil and/or Electrical estimating lead
* Power distribution and transmission experience in services/maintenance contracts
* Strong demonstrable skills in estimating first principles, norms and methodologies
* Demonstrated skills and experience in estimating packages – especially CATS or similar
