The Role Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Senior HR Business Partner plays a key role in delivering responsive, high‑quality HR services across the agency. You will work closely with managers and staff to provide practical, compliant, and timely advice.
Key Responsibilities
Providing advice on APS legislation, enterprise agreements, HR policy and employee relations matters
Managing and coordinating end‑to‑end recruitment, selection and onboarding processes
Supporting performance development, workforce matters and HR case management
Partnering with payroll to ensure accurate processing of commencements, variations and separations, including liaison on Aurion‑related matters
Contributing to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of HR frameworks, policies and processes
Managing sensitive matters with discretion, professionalism and sound judgement
About You
Demonstrated experience in an APS HR role, with strong knowledge of APS frameworks and legislation
Proven capability providing HR and industrial relations advice in complex and sensitive environments
Experience across core HR functions, including recruitment, performance, employee relations and payroll
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to translate policy into practical advice
A collaborative, adaptable approach suited to a small agency environment
Australian citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
